There are many places on the internet where people go to find information.
I don’t want this to be another one.
I want this to be a place where we can slow down, open the Scriptures, wrestle with what we believe, and come back again and again to the person who stands at the center of it all: Jesus Christ.
That is why we’re building this blog.
Pathway was born out of a simple conviction: Christ is worthy to be known, proclaimed, followed, and made known.
“For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.”
Isaiah 11:9
That verse has become more than a theme for us. It captures the longing behind Pathway.
We want to see Christ known everywhere.
Not merely known as a name.
Not merely known as a religious figure.
Not merely known as an idea we agree with.
But known as Lord, Savior, King, and treasure.
The Christian life is a pathway
I’ve always been drawn to the idea of a pathway.
A pathway assumes movement.
You don’t stand on a pathway forever. You walk.
There is somewhere you’re going.
And there are people walking with you.
This is how I understand discipleship.
Jesus did not simply call people to believe certain things about Him. He called them to follow Him.
“Follow me.”
Those words are simple, but they demand our whole lives.
Following Jesus means that faith cannot remain confined to a Sunday gathering, a Bible study, or a theological statement. The gospel begins to reshape how we think, how we love, how we work, how we forgive, how we serve, how we give, and how we speak about Christ to others.
We believe discipleship is a journey of becoming more like Jesus while helping others follow Him too.
That is the heart of Pathway.
The Christian life is a pathway
Believe. Belong. Become. Bless. Build. Bring. Bear.
Our Pathway is expressed through seven movements:
Believe. Belong. Become. Bless. Build. Bring. Bear.
We begin with Believe because everything begins with Christ.
We hear the gospel. We repent. We trust Him. We confess that Jesus is Lord.
But faith was never meant to leave us where it found us.
We Belong because Christ doesn’t merely save individuals and leave them isolated. He brings us into His body, His family, His Church.
We Become because the grace that saves us also transforms us. The Holy Spirit conforms us to Christ.
We Bless because having received grace, we become people who give grace. We give our treasure, our time, and our abilities for the good of others and the glory of God.
We Build because healthy disciples eventually become disciple-makers. We don’t want to build crowds that depend upon a few people. We want to build disciples who can build others.
We Bring because the gospel is too good to keep to ourselves. We bring people into the story of what God is doing.
And we Bear because the fruit of a disciple’s life should continue beyond that disciple.
A disciple makes disciples.
A leader raises leaders.
A church plants churches.
And the gospel keeps moving.
That is the pathway.
So what is this blog for?
This blog exists to help us walk that pathway together.
Some posts will be theological.
Some will be devotional.
Some will wrestle with difficult questions.
Some will talk about discipleship, leadership, church planting, evangelism, prayer, Scripture, ministry, and everyday Christian life.
And some will simply be reflections from the road.
I don’t want this to become a place where theology is discussed merely for the sake of winning arguments.
Theology matters because God matters.
What we believe about God shapes how we live before God.
If God is holy, then holiness matters.
If God is sovereign, then we can trust Him.
If God is gracious, then we can stop pretending that we can save ourselves.
If Christ really died and rose again, then our lives can never be the same.
If the Holy Spirit really dwells within His people, then transformation isn’t wishful thinking.
And if Jesus really is Lord, then He deserves more than an hour of our week.
He deserves everything.
Theology that leads somewhere
I love theology.
I love studying doctrine. I love opening the Bible and tracing an idea from Genesis to Revelation. I love asking why the Church believes what it believes and how the gospel holds everything together.
But theology that never reaches the heart eventually becomes merely intellectual.
And theology that reaches the heart but never reaches the hands remains incomplete.
We study so that we may worship.
We worship so that we may obey.
We obey so that Christ may be seen through our lives.
That’s the kind of theology I want to write about here.
Not theology detached from life, but theology that sends us back into life with greater love for God and greater faithfulness to His mission.
A blog for the road
I don’t have everything figured out.
I’m still walking.
Still learning.
Still repenting.
Still being corrected by Scripture.
Still discovering how deep the grace of God really is.
And perhaps that’s one of the reasons I want this blog to exist.
Because discipleship is not about pretending that we’ve arrived.
“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on…”
Philippians 3:12
I want to press on.
And I want to walk with others who want to press on too.
There will be days when the pathway is clear.
There will be days when it isn’t.
There will be seasons of growth and seasons where God seems strangely silent.
There will be victories worth celebrating and failures that require repentance.
But through all of it, Christ remains the destination and the center.
Until Christ is known everywhere
This is ultimately why Pathway exists.
Not to build a platform.
Not to build a brand.
Not even to build a church for the sake of having another church.
We want to see Christ known everywhere.
In our homes.
In our workplaces.
In our cities.
Among our neighbors.
Across generations.
Across cultures.
Across nations.
And perhaps that sounds too big.
It is.
But the mission was never ours to accomplish by our own strength.
Jesus said:
“I will build My church.”
That changes everything.
We work because He is working.
We go because He sends.
We preach because the gospel is true.
We make disciples because He commanded us.
We serve because He first served us.
And we keep walking because He has promised to be with us.
So that’s what this blog is for.
A place to think deeply about God.
A place to return to Scripture.
A place to talk honestly about discipleship.
A place to learn how to follow Jesus faithfully.
A place to encourage those who are walking the pathway.
And, I hope, a place that continually points us away from ourselves and back to Christ.
Because at the end of the pathway, it isn’t really about us.
It has always been about Him.
Jesus Christ.
Until Christ is known everywhere.
